About Me

The coaching relationship is based on trust. Trust is built on shared experience and promises kept. I know it is impossible to achieve that reading descriptions on the web, instead I want to make it easy for you to get a feel for me, an inkling of whether or not I might be the coach for you. So in a nutshell here is a little about me:

  • I am not perfect. In fact, I have made more than my fair share of mistakes. And I learned from every single one of them. I face difficult situations, misunderstandings & multiple competing priorities just like you. Above all else I tell the truth about my experience, warts and all; because if I hide it I can’t change it and it will most certainly bite me in the butt.
  • My nature is to observe, research and synthesize. I have spent the best part of the last decade learning about personal development, spirituality, forward thinking, stress management, natural therapies, meditation, the unconscious mind, contemporary culture & various faith traditions. Surprisingly, I find that all these disciplines say much the same things, and when I apply them to my life; I achieve grace.
  • This is not to say that I constantly maintain this state of grace, as I said before; I am not perfect. I am however a mother, partner and lover. I am not a fan of housework, but I am getting better at it. I am addicted to chocolate, Twitter and sleep. I have been described by those near and dear to me as down to earth, excitable, stubborn, wise, romantic, fearless, understanding, spiritual and feminine. I would describe myself as a work in progress and my personal values are Strength, Integrity, Simplicity, Grace and Service.

My Values

If you do decide to undertake coaching, or even coach yourself in personal development, you are bound to come across & work with values. Values are the basis of why we do what we do. It is largely accepted that values are stored at the level of the unconscious mind; meaning that although we act on these principles we are most often not consciously aware of them. My personal values are as follows:

  • Strength: Strength of will. Strength of faith. Strength that comes from rising to meet life’s challenges.
  • Integrity: I embody integrity when I tell the truth, even when it isn’t pretty, admit to my mistakes and live my values.
  • Simplicity: To me simplicity means to take the path of least resistance (which is simple but isn’t always easy). To follow my instinct. To eliminate the drama. To let go of the unwanted that makes things messy.
  • Grace: There are so many facets to grace. It is an ease of mind, an elegant approach, a humble and forgiving nature, appreciation for the beautiful, inspired by the divine, a friendly disposition, a deep sense of trust.
  • Service: Service to me is about listening and understanding another person so I can make a real connection. When the connection is made it is (usually) effortless to discern what I can do to assist.
